Montmorency School
The school’s modular building, which housed the former music room, had been destroyed by a tornado. Due to restrictions in the School Construction Grant, funding the replacement of the music room was done with Emergency Grant monies. The remainder of the project had to be implemented at a later date utilizing School Construction Grant funding.

At more than 450 feet long, the existing facility was extremely linear with a flat roof and without a readily identifiable entrance. The new music classroom addition was located at the north end of the facility and rotated 90 degrees to accommodate existing circulation paths and to provide a new, articulated façade highly visible from the main vehicular approach.

The administration office remodeling and the entrance addition were located at the center of the building and utilized similar imagery to that which had been incorporated into the music room addition. The two additions are located approximately 200 feet apart, but they create a single image, unifying the facility and placing less emphasis on the existing elongated structure.

Budget:

$530,000 – Phase One
$950,000 – Phase Two
